Garage Siding

The log siding for the garage was delivered today!

A few more weeks and we hope to have some cement in motion, log siding in place... and MAYBE even some light fixtures!  The addition of this garage is going to have a huge impact on our lives!

A Little Metal

We have a lot of wood in our home. A lot. And while wood is lovely, wood is natural, wood is durable and toddler tolerant, it is also quite an absorber of light. Dare I say a sunshine sponge? Perhaps that is a bit dramatic,  as sunshine often fills our days and pours into our windows. Nonetheless, we live in an area of the country that is well known for cloud covered grey days and we actively seek to off set this haze both in our home and out of it. To this, we've toyed with the notion of reflective surfaces in the home.  Today, we stuck our toe in the water of corrugated steal, and I think I like it! If time allows, we are going to add some corrugated steal to the ceiling in this bathroom, as well.  We plan to keep beams exposed and to add softer touches such as lavender bouquets to balance the industrial vibe. Winds are Upon Us

The garage is under roof, weddings are in the mix, babes are popping teeth and growing bigger by the minute, and winter is rolling in. The winds are upon us and we are snuggled up for the ride.

Loom Room Flooring

This is just kinda comical. Linoleum that looks like wood, all contorted as we rolled it out. Too funny not to include in our home improvement timetable. Tell me this doesn't remind you of a 90's album cover in some way?!?

Machinery!

It is positively incredible the difference a little machinery can make. This season, we start of with some much appreciated farm equipment. What a game changer!!

The garden and new hop rows are well tilled, mounded and some are even planted!

Not bad for a morning's work :)

Standard Saturday

Office / Loom Room construction, brewing, garage planning, gardening, playing with the kids. Hop transplants to follow this afternoon. How is your weekend going?

In Remembrance of Gus

A year and a half after his passing, we are pleased to have added a bench to Gus' Hill.

Next time you visit the Chalet, bring your mud boots, enjoy a hike and a peaceful sit with Gus.

Busy Season Coming

Tis' the season to have great things to talk about.

Green! Is the theme!

We spent St Patricks Day as a family: working,  playing, eating, having fun in the SUN!

We took some time to add organic matter to the new hop yard and garden.
Everyone was happily covered in dirt from head to toe by the end of the day.

Garden Starts

A few seeds were planted last week, a few more this week.

From the look of things, the garden should be booming by the time family gets into town!
