Ive had a number of requests for updates to the cabin blog. Thank you! It is great to hear that you enjoy reading about our adventures!!!
Honestly, I started this post a few weeks back and I've struggled to get my words down.
As some may know, our dear Gus went on to puppy heaven recently.
And the truth is that we were made still, made solemn by the passing of our dear friend.
He was a dedicated, forever loyal and loving protector, companion, adventurer - member of our family.
After he left, our house seemed empty, yet he ost no time in looking after us!
Less than an hour after Gus' burial, we received word that a dog we had applied to adopt weeks prior was approved to come home with us. We were taken aback by the tempo of the day's events, but decided it must have been meant to be. A couple days later, we picked up Huckleberry 'Hop'.
He is an Australian shepherd- poodle mix. Huckleberry was formerly a therapy dog, but the woman he was working with required a pup of taller stature to help her in and out of a chair. He is 2 1/2 years old and working to learn the routine at our house now.
Huck is very gentle, loves kids and affection! He and the Honey Bear are already good friends.
I was trying to upload a couple of clips of Gus, but I'm having some technological difficulties. Suffice to say, the boy traveled to both coasts, a number of times. He lived in the mountains and camped in the mud. He made many, many friends and enjoyed so many adventures! He carried with him our love and memories.
Gus is buried in the new pet cemetery, here at the farm. Perched high on the hill, there is a lovely view of the valley where turkey and deer come to play, where birds and grasshoppers frequent.
Thank you for loving Gus as a member of our family! Hope you will enjoy meeting Huckleberry in the weeks ahead!!!
