Today we enjoyed a bit of Spring weather, at long last!!!
To say that we are behind in our seasonal goals is a bit of an under statement. Had you visited the barn this week, you would have witnessed an exciting line up of supplies to prepare soil, plant hops, set a trellis system, impart fencing for the back yard and many other projects -- all lined up waiting for a break in the weather.
Despite the husband's soar back and my ever-expanding belly, we put a serious dent in everything today.
The hops are foremost in our minds. They need to get in the ground, if they are to have the best chance at thriving. So we set out to break up the soil.
A special thank you to Aunt Eva for loaning us your single-bottom plow for the task!
After agitating the soil a bit, we incorporated some of the A-grade 70%+ organic material we had hauled out a couple weeks back (when we planned to mark this item off the list).
The husband then ran the tiller over the soil cocktail. The final product looked pretty sweet to us!
We also took advantage of the warmer temps to get a base coat of paint on the chicken coop. We have a team of professionals headed out later this week to paint a beautiful surprise for our feathered friends!
Hope you and yours enjoyed the sunshine! Have a wonderful Easter!
